History of Our Store
Ultimate Trains owners, Tony and Joan first started the "train shop" in Calgary in 1996. They had dreamed about it for
more than
30 years! Tony (Anton) grew up beside the mainline between Zurich and Germany. He had a huge HO collection
for years.
Tony and Joan moved their new shop to Nanton in 2000. They now have lots of space outside for the gardens, and trains.
Nanton is a great little town that is home to the Lancaster Air Museum,
the Antique Walk of Alberta and 2 historic grain elevators.
Tony and Joan had a hotel the Finto Motor Inn in Inuvik, NT, where he used G-Scale trains to bring drinks
to costumers in the first bar. In later years the new bigger bar layout had 9 trains running at
once - through the walls and around the hallways. With gondolas and rack & pinions giving extra
visual appeal. So for anyone who has seen the Hotel with the Trains in Inuvik we are now down
from the Great North.

The Big Sky Outdoor Layout
The Big Sky Outdoor Layout is largest outdoor model train layout in Canada. It's where we have fun and is an
attraction for many people interested in trains
as well as landscaping and gardening. We are happy to have visitors from far away places and of all ages.
